TANZANIA, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES SIGN AGREEMENT TO DEEPEN BILATERAL RELATIONS
Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today aimed at forging greater cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE, witnessed the signing of the MOU on Political and Diplomatic Consultations.
The MoU was signed in Dubai by Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk, and His Highness Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, President Samia has reiterated Tanzania’s commitment to consolidate and strengthen the strong bilateral relations which have historically existed with the UAE.
“Allow me to reassure you that socio-economic and political cooperation between our countries will be promoted and sustained for the mutual interests of our people,” she said in an address to mark the Tanzania National Day at the Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The event also showcased to the world Tanzania’s tourism attractions and investment opportunities in mining and other sectors.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said his government aspires to strengthen friendly relations between the two nations.
“We look forward to expanding our partnership with Tanzania in various areas of mutual interest such as healthcare, infrastructure development and support of small and medium size entrepreneurs,” he said.
